Welcome one and all to my first ever giveaway!

I'm giving away a copy of Sally Kempton's brand new book

Awakening Shakti: the Transformative Power of the Goddesses of Yoga.

From the press release:

What do you do when you yearn to have it all—radical joy as well as spiritual depth, abundance along with deeper love? How do you bear witness to the suffering and darkness of the world, yet passionately celebrate life's sweetness? The sages of tantra have known for centuries that when you follow the path of Shakti—the sacred feminine principle personified by the goddesses of yoga—these gifts manifest spontaneously. Yet most of us, women as well as men, have yet to experience the full potential of the inner feminine energies. When you know these powers for what they are, they heighten your capacity to show up for every aspect of your life. They let you open spiritually, love more deeply and fearlessly, create with more skill, and, above all, find the kernel of ecstasy at the heart of even the most painful times. In Awakening Shakti, Sally Kempton shows readers how to recognize and invite:
  • Kali, bringer of strength, fierce love, and untamed freedom
  • Lakshmi, who confers prosperity and beauty
  • Saraswati, for clarity of communication and intuition
  • Radha, who carries the divine energy of spiritual longing
  • Bhuvaneshvari, who creates the space for sacred transformation
  • Parvati, to awaken creativity and the capacity to love

With a wealth of meditations, visualizations, mantras, teachings, and beautifully told stories, this book provides a practical guide for activating the currents of the divine feminine in every aspect of your life.

  1. I love Kali. I resonate with her. She's so fierce but loving. Her energy is beautiful. I think of her when I'm going through a challenge, or a time of expansion. Thank you for this giveaway!

  2. I don't know much about any Goddess' but Lakshmi sounds interesting for sure. I guess this book interests me because it is about something that I'd like to know more about.
    Thanks for the opportunity.

  3. Oh, this giveaway comes at just the right time. I could use extra connection to the divine and going through a goddess sounds just right. My favorites are Kali for her fierceness and unabashed power and Artemis for her wisdom and hunter qualities. I'm a hunter and I love to think of Artemis as an extension of myself. Afterall, we are all goddesses.

  4. Radha! For all the spiritual beings out there and the ones who yearn to completely be a spiritual walk of life! step by step as I create a life for my daughters and I... how much I learn along the journey... how many people have touched our lives and with that how much my spirit is lifting! Today is not the strongest day but tomorrow will be better than yesterday!

  5. I know it seems odd, but my Goddess is that of Mielikki (from the Forgotten Realms series.) I've always felt in tune with the purpose she was written for, so much so, that when I was 25 I had her symbol tattooed on my left shoulder (gold-horned, blue-eyed unicorn's head facing left.)

"Mielikki is good-humored and quick to smile. She is confident in her actions and conveys this confidence well in small groups, though she dislikes speaking formally or leading large contingents. She is fiercely loyal and protective to those she calls friend, but does not grant that consideration lightly. She finds the injuries of animals and other friends hard to bear and often cures hurt creatures."

That pretty much sums up how I live my life. :)

  6. I've connected with a personal goddess, but have never been drawn to name her. I'll be scanning my intuition's messages to see if anything springs forth now. My goddess transforms struggles and frustrations into compassion and understanding. As long as I'm paying her enough attention, that is. Thanks for offering this giveaway!

  7. Meredith -
This is not an entry because I already have my very own copy of this book and can't wait to read it! I have always been intrigued by the goddesses and Lakshmi the goddess of prosperity (both material and spiritual), light, wisdom, fortune, fertility, generosity, and courage is my favorite. We definitely need to make this a Twitter #YOBC pick and discuss it!!

  9. Okay, Meredith, you can tell Scarlet she doesn't need to keep me in the drawing because I am my favorite goddess! Yes, yes, I am! Yoga for me is a love affair, with me! It's about getting to know myself more intimately, loving myself more openly and deeply, and finding the goddess within. I've gained a little weight and look more like a goddess than the nymph I used to look like. And, I like it! A little Rubens is always a fine thing. As I get older I actually find that I love my feminine side more. Growing up with feminist leanings it's not been easy, but yoga has connected me with me, my goddess. She's very cool!
